Creams, toners, ampoules... all have only 0,1% of triterpenes, this toner i make have 1,4%. I am loving it, will see the results. .. ...»

Just recently ordered this and LOVE! Green Tea EGCG truly is one of the most fantastic skincare actives out there. Very difficult to find good quality product (90%) and even harder to actually solubilize it! Love that it comes in pre-dissolved solution. I enjoy adding it at 1% (so 11% sol) to my serum formulations containing Niacinamide 5% + NAG 3%. Excellent for oily acne prone skin. *Only gripe... because the Pre-Dissolved Solution is SO heavy in propanediol (10 parts Propanediol for 1 part E.. ...»

Wonderful base cream! Only multi-lamellar structured cream I've found on the market. Cream itself is lightweight (no oil) yet very conditioning/hydrating. Easily accepts water-soluble active ingredients as well as oil-soluble ones. I've even pushed the additional ingred % up to 20 (meaning 80% this cream, 20% added) without any separation issues. Ideal base cream for delivering actives. Personal favorite recipe calls for 5% straight Grapeseed Oil with 5% SebumREG oil active + Panthenol 1% + E Ac.. ...»

Im 45 years old; average looking skin for my age. Applied a small pea sized amount of Sea Kelp Bioferment to my face full strength in the am after washing my face of previous night makeup.; let face "dry". Then aplied my foundation as always. Noticed my thick, heavy foundation applied more easily and smooth. Keep in mind this is DAY TWO of me using this. TWO women at work ( separate departments) commented how wonderful my face looked! Buy Fucoidan For Skin Care

Fucoidan is a dietary fiber extracted from brown seaweed which belongs to a class of fucose-enriched sulphated polysaccharides. Fucoidan has been used for many years in traditional Asian medicine as an anti-coagulant, anti-thrombotic, anti-cancer agent, and to modify immune responses. Topical formulations have recently been investigated for various therapeutic and cosmetic uses.  Due to anti-inflammatory and procollagen synthesis-stimulating properties, fucoidan holds promise for use healing burns, alleviating allergic reactions, and treating atopic dermatitis.  Additionally, fucoidans can increase dermal fibroblast migration and their rate of proliferation.  In several experimental approaches, fucoidan has been shown to successfully reduce the appearance of aging and to promote hair regeneration.  Fucoidan is also present in our seakelp biofermentl, but this powder fucoidan is standardized for 85% of the active ingredient.

NOTE: To assist you with solubility issues, we now also sell Fucoidan as a standardized pre-dissolved solution. Just add the liquid to your cream and mix well.

Fucoidan

About Fucoidan in DIY Skin Care

Fucoidans are a complex group of sulphated polysaccharides, or complex carbohydrates, which are extracted from brown seaweed.  As part of a healthy diet, fucoidans are believed to improve the cardiovascular system, provide immune support, and have anti-oxidant and immunomodulating properties [1].  While the health benefits of dietary fucoidan have long been recognized in Asia, the cosmeceutical benefits of fucoidan to the skin when applied topically have only begun to be understood in the past decade.  Initially investigated for their anti-coagulant roles, fucoidans are now known to interact with and modulate the activities of multiple growth factors and immune cell signaling molecules [cytokines].  Through these actions fucoidans are now recognized as improving skin health in multiple ways, from increasing collagen synthesis and deposition to increasing dermal fibroblasts in the skin [2].

Fucoidan solutions are known to stimulate dermal fibroblast proliferation.  As dermal fibroblasts are what produce the collagen in skin, a component which makes up about 70% of the extracellular matrix, benefits of increasing the numbers of these cells include more supple skin, reduced appearance of wrinkles, and decreased thickness of the epidermal layer.  Incorporation of extracellular collagen was increased with fucoidan treatment, and this was further enhanced when fibroblasts were treated with fucoidan in combination with retinol and/or ascorbate [3].  Thus, fucoidan solutions have been investigated for anti-aging effects.

As people age, collagen levels in the skin decrease and lead to the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles.  Compounding this is that exposure to UV light both decreases the rate of collagen synthesis as well as increases the levels of matrix metalloproteinase 1, or MMP-1, which is responsible for degrading collagen.  Several studies on UV-irradiated skin fibroblasts have demonstrated that following treatment of fucoidin, levels of MMP-1 mRNA and protein were significantly decreased whereas the mRNA and protein levels of procollagen type I were increased dose-dependently manner [4, 5].  In another in vitro trial in which a 1% fucoidan gel formulation was applied to human cheek skin twice daily for five weeks, skin thickness decreased significantly whereas elasticity significantly increased [6].  Such effects indicate that fucoidans may be particularly useful for anti-aging treatments.

Fucoidans have also been shown to block the effects of transforming growth factor-beta [TGF-β], a growth factor which decreases dermal fibroblast proliferation and which has important roles in tissue remodeling [7].  Studies indicate that fucoidan solutions work to improve the collagen content and collagen incorporation in the matrix of the skin by reversing the effects of TGF- [8].  This makes fucoidan promising for wound healing support and reducing scar formation.  Ointments containing fucoidan have been shown to increase the rate of wound healing in an in vivo dermal burn model [9, 10].   In similar experiments, a fucoidan-chitosan application to dermal wounds had less edema and increased fibroblast migration, collagen synthesis, and accelerated regeneration of the epidermis compared to the control solution [11].

Research indicates that the effect of fucoidans on the immune system is not limited to the TGF- β pathways.  Fucoidans have been shown to attenuate white blood cell recruitment and accumulation in the skin [12-14].  This makes fucoidans attractive for use in alleviating allergic hives or angioedema.  Therefore they have recently become extremely attractive for the treatment of atopic eczema, or atopic dermatitis [AD].  AD is characterized by chronic inflammation of the skin and presents with hives.  This disease may affect up to nearly 20% of a given population of children, though it can also affect adults at any age [15].  AD is believed to result from dysregulation of the immune system and/or allergic responses to environmental stimuli [16].  In vivo studies in mice have demonstrated that the dermatitis score in mice treated with fucoidan after the onset of AD was significantly lower.  Further, the skin of the treated animals was significantly less dry, had fewer hives, and appeared to be less irritated compared to the skin of the control animals.  Analyses also indicated decreased epithelial thickness with lower serum histamine levels [17].

Finally, low molecular weight fucoidan has recently been demonstrated to promote hair regeneration by stimulating proliferation of the supporting cells. In a zebrafish model, experimental data indicates that, following neomycin treatment to kill mechanosensory hair cells, low molecular weight fucoidan increases cell proliferation and promotes hair growth 18.
