NOTES:

There are many ways this product can be formulated.  The above recipe is but one example.

  • In an acidic formulation Gelmaker is recommended to be used at 3.8%.  This makes a very drying lotion.  I have used it at 1% and it will form a good emulsion.  The emulsion may not last for a long time, but as this product does not use a preservative and is supposed to be made fresh every week, there is no problem.

  • IF you plan on keeping this for longer than 1 week, you will need to increase the amount of Gelmaker and add a preservative.

  • This recipe includes 0.5% Idebenone, you may leave this out if you find it makes the product too orange.

  • You can decrease the amount of water and increase the amount of ethanol, this will make the product more stable.

  • You could leave the water out all together, and use glycerin to dissolve the L-ascorbic acid.  You could then increase the amount of ethanol to make a more stable product.  However, glycerin will make the product sticky; this can be reduced substantially by adding our silicone gel.

I will be posting many more variations of the C+E+Ferulic recipes.
