About Lecithin
Lecithin is a waxy like ingredient derived from soybeans. It acts as an skin conditioning agents, emulsifier and thickening agent for both food and cosmetic products. It is a safe and natural product.
Lecithin is a safe and natural emulsifier
"Only a limited number of emulsifiers is commonly regarded as safe to use for parenteral administration, of which the most important are Pluronic F68® (Poloxamer 188), Tween 80® (Polysorbate 80) and lecithin. Compared with its synthetic alternatives, lecithin can be totally biodegraded and metabolised, since it is an integral part of biological membranes, making it virtually non-toxic." Source: "Lecithin - an Emulsifier for Parenteral Use", dissertation by Christoph Wabel
Liquid Lecithin (Phosphatidylcholine) is a natural emulsifier. In DIY skin care recipes it is often used for that purpose, and also for UV protection. Lecithin is an ingredient that can be used alone or with Polysorbate 80.
