About Pantothenic acid

Also called vitamin B5, and often touted as being effective for acne. However, there is only one study supporting this notion and it dates from the early 1980s (Source: International Journal of Dermatology, 1981, volume 20, pages 278–285). There is no current research showing this to be an effective treatment for acne, but there is a small amount of research showing that it can be effective for hydration and wound healing (Source: American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, 2002, volume 3, number 6, pages 427–433).  Cosmetics ingredients dictionary

Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5, as Calcium-D-Pantothenate) is most often used for its skin hydrating qualities, and also for wound therapy. There is a study from the 1980’s that says it can also be useful in anti-acne treatments (there is no current data to support this theory).
